For most visitors, the 6-wine tasting at $7 is the right fit for a short stop between other plans. If you want a bit more than a flight, the 11 am winery tour at $14.99 per person includes a tasting and starts early enough to leave the afternoon free for a cruise.

Hours change four times a year. Monday to Thursday and Sunday share one schedule, Friday and Saturday run an hour later.

On the days where two seasons meet, September 5 to 7 and October 31, the closing time can differ by an hour. Check the day before if you plan a late visit. Drivers should plan who stays sober, and remember that alcohol is not allowed on the grounds of Boldt Castle on Heart Island, so a bottle from the tasting room is for later.
The Seaway Wine Trail
The 1000 Islands Seaway Wine Trail is the regional name for wineries along the St. Lawrence. The Thousand Islands Winery is listed among its stops. Membership and routes can change from season to season, so check which stops are active before you build a driving plan around the trail, and do not count on shuttles or included transport.
If you only have one day, one winery plus a cruise is a realistic plan. The winery fits a late morning or an early afternoon, and the river towns of Alexandria Bay and Clayton offer plenty to do around it.
A tasting in the cold months
The tasting room is open all year, with the shortest days from October 31 to April 15. Boldt Castle closes in mid-October and does not reopen until May 8, 2027, so a winery stop is an indoor option on a winter trip to the river. If you stay overnight, read our page on hotels and where to stay.
